Adopt-a-River Clean-Up Saturday, April 19, 2008 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM Pot luck on Magnolia Blossom at 3:00
Between 1989 and 2006 over 2,200 cleanups were completed by over 66,000 volunteers in 64 Minnesota counties. They removed about 4.8 million pounds of rubbish from 7,500 miles of Minnesota's public waters, utilizing 226,000 hours of effort.
In cooperation with the MN DNR, the WYC has adopted one mile of river (1/2 mile on each side). We will walk the river shoreline to pick up trash and debris that does harm to the river and the environment. This makes the river a better place to boat and allows us to be proud of our efforts to improve water quality.
This is a great way to get out in the spring to enjoy new and old friends. The clean-up will be followed up with a Pot Luck! If you are not able to join us for the clean-up, still come and bring something good to share
(Maybe this is just an old wives tale but ... he who brings good food to potluck - will be rewarded with many boating friends )
For more details, contact Virg Amsden 651-699-3429 and watch for sign-up sheet in ship store
