Fun on the River

Boat Buying Experience

Joan (wife) and myself bought our first boat ever in the fall of 2005 form Jason Oliver.  Some one told us, “You will either love boating or sell the boat within a year”.  We fell in love with the new boat (37ft Holiday Mansion), Watergate Marine, the river and especially all the new boat people.

We refurbished the inside of the Holiday Mansion to our tastes in the first Spring-06.  From that point on, we have entertained many friends and relatives who all said “this is the greatest”, which we agree.  Whether it’s going through the locks, going to Red Wing, staying overnight at the marina, everything is good.  It is a new chapter every time we set foot on the boat.

Our kids, daughters (Lindsey and husband Nate) (Kirsten and fiancé Ted) love coming to the boat at any time.  Lindsey and Nate loved it so much, they bought there first boat and have it in Winona at one of there Marina’s.

We were brought into the boating era by Ellen & Brad Oliver.  They have taught us too well.  After only 2 years, we have purchased a new boat, a 1999 35 ft Carver Mariner. It included a 10 ft dingy.  It has a many features of a house boat which why we choose this particular boat.  Yes, we will keep it longer than 2 years.

We go from no boats to 3 boats in less than 3 years.  Looks like we have to keep up with the Oliver’s for number of boats for sale!

Looking forward to another great year with a new slip and meeting more wonderful friends.
